Curriculum

A Balanced Curriculum

We follow a tested “Anglo-Zambian” curriculum based on the Zambia Primary Course (ZPC). Children cover the Zambia Primary Course in its entirety, enriched with British educational materials as follows:

  • Reading schemes: Oxford Reading Tree, Ginn 360, Wide Range
  • Mathematics: Ginn and Nelson

Main Subjects & Specialist Teaching:

  • Core subjects are taught by class teachers
  • Grouping is done by ability

Specialist subjects include:

  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Art
  • French

Our library is managed by fully qualified librarians.

Monitoring & Examinations

At Nkhwazi, we place strong emphasis on both ongoing assessment and formal examinations to ensure our pupils are well-prepared academically.

  • Continuous assessments are conducted in reading, English, and mathematics to monitor progress and guide instruction.
  • Formal examinations are administered twice a year — in July and November — to evaluate cumulative learning.
  • Grade 7 pupils sit the national selection examination for entry into Grade 8.
  • Our Grade 7 results are consistently among the highest in Lusaka, reflecting both academic rigour and effective preparation.
